PLAYING
INSTRUCTION
Two teams play against one another. These teams
either consist of 2 or 3 players who play with altogether 6 bowls.
If a team consists of 2 players every player gets 3 bowls ¨Cif a team
consists of 3 players each of them gets 2 bowls.
How to play
The target is a little wooden bowl, which has a
diameter of apporox.25-30 mm. In order to decide which team is going
to start lots need to be drawn.
Mark a circle with a diameter of apporox.35-50 cm on
the ground from which the target ball is to be thrown off. The
distance of the target ball to the throwing off circle should be
about 6-10 m.
When throwing the target ball the feet of the player
have to be within the circle and touch the ground until the ball has
landed. The team of the player who threw the target ball (A). Then
throws the first bowl as near as possible to the target ball. Then
team B tries to get a bowl even closer to the target. If they
succeed team A tries to outdo that throw. It continues this way
until all the bowls have been played.
When one team has played all the bowls the other team
tries to place the last bowls so that they are closer to the target
than the best placed bowl of the competitors. Every bowl that is
closer to the target than the best placed bowl of the other team
counts 1 point.
That means that there is at least 1 point to be won
in every game (if the second best placed bowl belongs to the
competitors). The highest score is 6 points (if all the bowls of one
team are better placed than those of the other team).
The attraction of the game is to use all possible
ways to throw the bowl. You can for example push the opposing bowl
away, block the target, change the position of the target ball etc.
It is
therefore recommended to limit the time for tactical discussion in
between throws.
